Scarpetta Brunch- Fit for Kings and Queens

If you're looking for a spectacular brunch on Sundays, Scarpetta is the place to be. Located at the posh Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills, this buffet will satisfy all your cravings from savory to sweet.

We came here with hearty appetites and left waddling out like happy ducks.

The kitchen has all sorts of food including bread, croissants, meats, veggies, appetizers, sliders, mac n cheese, the famous spaghetti, ravioli, oysters, king crab legs, sushi and fruit.

In the dining room area you will find a cheese station and a dessert station filled with all sorts of goodies such as macarons, cakes, creme brûlée and panna cotta.

You can also order off the menu for items such as french toast, hash browns and poached eggs.

Spaghetti - get a couple servings because this is seriously one of the best pastas I've had. Simple yet refined.

Oysters- need I say more?

Poached egg with polenta- Orgasmically fulfilling. Good lord! I've never had an egg so good, and the polenta balances it perfectly.

Desserts: Get them all! Highlights are the creme brûlée, macarons and tapioca pudding in a small glass.

Service is excellent on all levels. Everyone was accommodating, friendly and on point.

Price- not for the faint of heart. $68 per person. It's well worth it for a special treat!

Waffle Chix- Westwood

We came here around 4 pm which was a slow period for them. We were told to have a seat anywhere, so we sat at a booth and waited for menus. And waited and waited. 5 minutes later, a guy finally comes over and gives us menus.

We perused the menu and decided what we were going to order. Took another at least another 5-7 minutes before the waitress appeared from the back to take our order. Mind you, I did say this was during off-peak hours and there was only one other couple in the entire restaurant who had already been served.

I ordered the fried chicken sandwich based on some Yelp reviews that said it was excellent. My DC ordered a side of mac n cheese and the breast and waffle combo.

My waffle fries came out first. It was pretty good, albeit a bit too salty. I liked that he brought me a huge container of hot sauce when I asked. 

Next up came the fried chicken sandwich which was in between 2 slices of waffles and had bacon. Whoa.. heart attack food! I thought the presentation was nice, but didn't like the soggy bottom half of the waffle sandwich. It fell apart when I tried eating it. : / The fried chicken inside was quite small and mostly just fried skin. Not much meat at all! I took out the bacon, didn't like it.

His breast and waffle combo looked kinda sad. The waffle was thin and the breast was dry. For $9, it wasn't worth it. 

I also had a bite of the $5 small side of mac n cheese and was horrified at the taste. Watery and tasteless! Definitely, the worst mac n cheese I've ever had. Avoid.

After this meal, my stomach started hurting and I felt disgusting. Not coming back for sure. My DC hated his meal, I didn't hate mine, but I didn't like it.

The Waffle - Worth the Wait?

We saw this place featured on "Best Thing I Ever Ate" thanks to Susan Feniger praising the red velvet waffles. So, we came here last Sunday to see what the fuss was all about.

First off, be prepared to wait a good 30-40 minutes for a table. We got there around 1 and didn't get a table till about 1:35 pm. Then, be prepared to wait for your food. Our food took another 30 minutes to arrive. F that. We were starving! I seriously can't stand waiting that long to eat. But, I took one for the team.

The red velvet waffles come with cream cheese butter and truly taste like red velvet cupcakes. At $10.50 for 2 pieces, it will pretty expensive. But, I guess you pay for novelty.

I ordered a tuna salad sandwich as did my DC at $8.25 each. The sandwich came with waffle fries which made them worth the price. Actually, the sandwich was pretty good.

I opted for the bottomless cocktails option which is only available on weekends. You get your choice of mimosas, bloody marys or margaritas for $12. I started with a mimosa which was just okay. Then I progressed to a bloody mary which was very watered down and weird. I would skip the cocktails and just drink water.

Someone was still hungry after her waffles so she ordered the dip and chips. What a waste of $7. A pile of stale chips and some artichoke chip = fail. Don't get this dish at all.

Our total bill was $57 before tip! Wowza. That's way too expensive for the food we got, especially after waiting an hour to eat.
